towering mountains, sculpted rice terraces and plum orchards rising and falling
as far as the eye can see, Bac Ha creates the perfect setting for a mountain
biking adventure. The main roads winding along high mountain passes are sealed
and see little traffic. With endless trails leading to local hill tribe
villages, you'll be rewarded with great exercise and an unforgettable cultural
experience! The area is home to the colorful Flower H’Mong, Phu La,
Tay
and Nung Hill Tribes. Experience two of their
bustling weekly markets which play an important part in the social and economic
aspects of hill tribe life here.

Itinerary
Day 1. Fri. Night train to Lao Cai.
at 8.00pm -
Pick up from your hotel in Hanoi and leave
for Ha Noi Railway
Station to catch the night train (soft sleeper with air conditioning) to Lao Cai.
Day 2. Sat . Lao Cai_ Can Cau market_ Bac Ha .
Cycling: 25km (B/L/D)
6.am -
Arrive
in Lao Cai. After breakfast in a
local restaurant, drive 90km (3.5 hours) through the steep Bac Ha Mountains to
Can Cau. This colourful Flower H’Mong market is perched high on the mountain
side with an amazing view of the local valley sculpted with rice terraces and
plum trees. Glide 20km on tar road back to Bac Ha town to check in to your
hotel. Lunch is followed by an 8km loop around Bac Ha and Ban Pho village on a
single trail dirt road winding through plum gardens and rice fields where
you'll visit local people. Overnight in a Bac Ha hotel.
Day 3.
Sun. Bac Ha market _ Lao Cai , night train to
Hanoi. Cycling from 24km to 82km (B/L/D)
Get your camera ready for
the famous Bac Ha market - A
photographer’s dream. The sights, sounds and smells in this bustling hill tribe
market are a barrage for the senses! Try the famous local corn whiskey! A short
cycle through town visits the impressive house of the former H’Mong King. After
lunch, check out and start riding out of town down the stunning mountain road
along the
Chay
River
valley back to Lao Cai. You can
choose to ride 24km down the mountain then drive to Lao Cai, or ride the full
82km to Lao Cai. Freshen up with a shower in Lao Cai before eating dinner.
8.20pm - Night
train back to Ha Noi.
Mon: 5.30am
